Sumida Park

Park

Taito City’s Sumida Park is a waterfront park that stretches along the Sumida River around the Asakusa area, facing Sumida Park on the Sumida City side across the river. The park was opened in 1925 (Taisho 14) and is located within walking distance of Asakusa Station and Senso-ji Temple, making it easy to visit as part of an Asakusa sightseeing route. The park is equipped with walking paths, benches, and open spaces, allowing visitors to enjoy a relaxing stroll while feeling the flow of the Sumida River up close.

In spring, the park is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, with many Somei Yoshino cherry trees in full bloom, attracting large numbers of visitors during the hanami season. During the Sumida River Fireworks Festival, it is also used as one of the viewing areas. From within the park and along the riverside, visitors can enjoy views of Tokyo Skytree, as well as a scenic harmony of the Asakusa townscape, the river, and the modern city skyline. It serves as a pleasant resting place for both local residents and tourists during their Asakusa sightseeing.
