Asakusa Hanayashiki, Japan's oldest amusement park, is set to unveil its newly renovated rooftop area on March 20, 2026. The park’s history dates back to 1853, when it first opened as a botanical garden (Kaen) specializing in peonies and chrysanthemums. This renovation, designed by the 128-year-old florist Daiichi-Engei, honors those botanical roots, creating a serene sanctuary where seasonal flora takes center stage.

■ 87 Species of Flora and Panoramic City Views
In true "Hanayashiki" (Flower Mansion) style, the rooftop features 87 varieties of plants. The spacious area, covered in artificial turf, offers various rest spots for families and adults alike. The observation point provides a stunning panoramic view of Asakusa, making it a prime photo spot where you can capture the city skyline framed by seasonal blooms.

■ A Barrier-Free Path Filled with History and Playfulness
The wooden deck walkways are designed for accessibility, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone. Visitors can enjoy playful details like hidden flower motifs on the floor and the presence of "Burabo-san," the deity of flower bulbs. To commemorate the reopening, a "Mame-zakura" (Fuji Cherry) tree has been planted, symbolizing the continued growth of this lush garden.

■ Opening Day Special: 250 Complimentary Spring Flowers
On opening day, March 20, the first 250 visitors will receive a gift of fresh spring flowers selected by Daiichi-Engei. These include bulbous plants associated with "Burabo-san," known for bringing good luck and lasting connections.

Experience the evolution of the historic "Kaen" garden under the Asakusa sky. Come and feel the gentle change of seasons in this new rooftop oasis.
