ODETTER

ODETTER

Opened in 2021, ODETTER is a charming French bistro nestled quietly in the residential neighborhood of Asakusa 5-chome, within the historic and atmospheric "Kannon-ura" district. The owner-chef, Mitsunaka Uchimura, boasts a remarkable career, having honed his craft at some of Japan's most prestigious establishments and the Michelin-starred restaurant "Le Jardin des Sens" in France, followed by a unique stint as the dedicated chef for the Antarctic Wintering Research Expedition. The cozy, intimate interior creates a welcoming atmosphere, adorned with photos from his training days and Antarctica, while footage he filmed on the frozen continent plays gently in the background. The restaurant's name, "ODETTER," stems from a dialect of his hometown in Iwate Prefecture meaning "please come in," reflecting his warm hospitality.

The cuisine is rooted in authentic, traditional bistro style backed by flawless classical techniques. From the very first bite of the appetizers—such as the refined carrot mousse with consommé gelée, a dish carrying the lineage of legendary culinary masters, or the rich pate de campagne that highlights his years of experience—guests can immediately appreciate his culinary prowess.

From appetizers and mains to desserts, every single dish is meticulously prepared from scratch, offering a profound sense of satisfaction and deep, comforting flavors. Standout main dishes include the South French-style tomato-braised lamb, where vegetables beautifully absorb the savory broth, and the roasted duck breast served alongside crisp, aromatic bamboo shoots. Furthermore, a few varieties of pasta are featured on the blackboard menu daily, and the chef can also flexibly whip up custom pasta creations based on each guest's individual preferences. Pairing wonderfully with a curated wine selection, this hidden gem offers outstanding French bistro dining with genuine warmth.
