Ehime Cuisine Ehime

Ehime Cuisine Ehime

Tucked within a row of tavern buildings in Oku-Asakusa's Kannoura—a district once celebrated as a bustling geisha quarter north of Senso-ji Temple—Ehime Cuisine Ehime welcomes guests into a cozy tavern celebrating the food culture of Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku. Stepping past the nostalgic sliding doorway, diners are warmly greeted by the smiling proprietress, cheerfully dressed in kimono and a traditional white kappogi apron.

Hailing from Yahatahama in Ehime, the proprietress crafts authentic regional comfort food using genuine local staples—even sourcing her barley miso and soy sauce directly from her hometown. Highlights include fresh jakoten (minced fried fish cakes), senzanki (Ehime-style seasoned fried chicken), imotaki (a gently simmered hotpot of taro and chicken), and iron-pressed Imabari-style yakitori, culminating in delicate Uwajima taimeshi (sea bream over seasoned rice).

The bar is equally dedicated to regional libations, stocking authentic Ehime sakes alongside freshly squeezed sours made with seasonal citrus fruits—such as Iyokan, Kiyomi, and Dekopon—sourced right from the owner's family orchard. Equally comfortable for solo diners dropping in for a quiet drink or small groups unwinding together, it is an unpretentious Kannoura spot where anyone can settle in and appreciate fine local food and drink.
