Caril

Caril

Tucked inside a quiet residential pocket of Oku-Asakusa near the historic Akebonoyu bathhouse, Caril is an intimate dining spot established in August 2022 by owner-chef Masayuki Ohashi, following a celebrated run as a pop-up in Ikejiri-Ohashi.

By day, the focus is on scratch-made Indian spice curries. Guests can enjoy a single-curry or two-curry combo plate featuring rotating choices like salted chicken, keema, seafood, or pork vindaloo. Served over long-grain rice with lentil dal, house achaar pickles, raita, and crispy papad, each plate offers a colorful, harmonious interplay of textures and aromatic spices.

At night, the restaurant transforms into a lively spice-forward wine bistro, where the chalkboard menu changes with the seasons and market finds. Offerings range from playful small plates like spring-roll samosas and spiced dumplings to seasonal fish preparations, herb-infused charcuterie, and slow-roasted meats. Paired with house cocktails such as Nepalese sansho-infused vodka sodas or curated natural wines, and finished with an evening curry, it offers an ever-evolving, creative taste of downtown Tokyo nightlife.
