Opened in October 2022, Tokyo Khaomangai Shokudo is a chicken rice specialty shop located along the Old Nikko Kaido road, walking from the back of Senso-ji Temple toward the Sumida River. The owner, Fujitaka Sugita, opened this establishment after serving as the manager of Tokyo Khaomangai Kanda branch for 14 years.
The interior features Singha beer umbrellas, checkered tablecloths, and blue and pink chairs. Because the owner operates the shop alone, it runs on a self-service system where customers secure their own seats, order at the counter, carry their own food, clean up afterwards, and take alcoholic beverages directly from the refrigerator.
The signature Khaomangai (Thai chicken rice) features domestic whole chicken poached to a tender texture, a technique learned by the owner during his training at stalls in Thailand. The rice is premium Niigata-grown indica rice cooked in the whole chicken broth. Customers can choose from three types of sauces: a spicy "Red Sauce" made from Thai bean miso (taotjo) and garlic, a sharp "Black Sauce" based on dark soy sauce (seewan) and green chilis, or a non-spicy "Lime Sauce" using Thai lime (manao). A chicken soup is included for dine-in orders.
Other menu items include extra-coarsely minced chicken Gapao rice, special coconut chicken curry, rich coconut curry ramen, and fried chicken rice. After 5:00 PM, an evening menu featuring appetizers such as Thai-style shrimp cutlets and fried gyoza is offered alongside alcoholic beverages.
