Located in the "Kannon-ura" area north of Senso-ji Temple, about a 10-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tobu Skytree Line and Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, "New Saien" is a Chinese-style diner now operating out of its relocated site under the leadership of its second-generation owner. The shop continues to preserve the flavors loved in the neighborhood since the previous generation, drawing many local regulars.
The signature dish, "Jun-Leba Don" (Chicken Liver Bowl), features tender chicken liver quick-fried in a secret sauce created from a blend of soy sauce, sugar, multiple types of doubanjiang (chili bean paste), and original spices. It is topped with an iconic, mountain-like heap of finely chopped white scallions that completely covers the dish. It is also available as a standalone dish called "Jun-Leba."
Along with the signature chicken liver bowl, other menu items such as Tanmen (vegetable noodle soup), Tenshinhan (crab meat omelet over rice), and gyoza are also popular choices.
