Located near Shokutsudo Street in Asakusa, Hakuga is a long-standing Chinese restaurant established in 1932. Relocated to its current spot in 1948, the establishment is currently run by its fourth-generation owner. The interior retains a Showa-era atmosphere, equipped with both table and tatami seating.
The signature item is its steamed pork dumplings (Shumai), a recipe inherited from the original founder and brought back onto the menu by the fourth-generation owner. The filling, made with pork shoulder and a generous amount of onions, is wrapped in thin wrappers from the renowned local noodle maker Asakusa Kaikarou and steamed twice upon order. Other offerings include Dish Wonton served with a seasoned soy sauce and scallions, Toribari (crispy twice-fried chicken with sweet vinegar sauce and scallions), shrimp fried rice, and various noodle dishes including miso ramen. Asakusa Kaikarou noodles and dough wrappers are used across its menu.
The drink selection features bottled beer, Hoppy, highballs, sours, Shaoxing wine, and Japanese sake, complementing the side dishes.
